What Areas Do Most People Forget to Clean when Unpacking & Moving into a New House in Brentwood, TN?

Moving into a new house is an exciting time. Months and months of planning and packing to finally arrive in your new place. As you get settled, there is always a sense of urgency in the process. More than likely, that comes from feeling like you have been living out of boxes for several weeks to months prior to arriving here. At any rate, you are more than likely swiftly cleaning the place so you can settle in as soon as you can. Today, Good Time Moving & Storage is here to talk about different areas that are often overlooked during the move in cleaning process.

Tops of Cabinets & Doors

Often, if you can’t actually see a surface and how dirty it is, you are more likely going to forget to clean it. The tops of cabinets and doors often fall into this category. While they aren’t an area that you need to clean on a weekly basis, cleaning them before you move in is a good idea. If you have a long wand and a microfiber cloth, it can make this job a quick and easy one.

Light Fixtures & Ceiling Fans

The light fixtures and ceiling fan blades in your home are places that are often covered in a nice layer of dirt and dust. This is another area that you don’t normally look closely at, so it’s easy to forget about them. When you’re moving into a new house, you want to have a clean slate though. It’s worth taking the time to wipe these areas down.

Air Filters & Vents

If the previous owner of your new home didn’t tell you they recently changed the air filter, you will want to do that to keep up the maintenance on the HVAC system throughout the house. Also, in every room, there are vents and returns that are covered in dirt and dust. Removing this will help with any seasonal allergies and boost your indoor air quality.

Inside of the Appliances

You more than likely will clean out the fridge, microwave and the stove but don’t forget to clean out the other appliances as well. You should also make sure the dishwasher, washing machine and garbage disposal are cleaned as well. These appliances generally get forgotten during the move in process.

Doorknobs, Switches & Outlet Covers

These frequently touches areas should be cleaned when you are taking possession of a new home. They harbor germs and once you have cleaned them, you at least know they are germs that belong to you.
